You will be in my thoughts forever, I have known you for over 50 years and this has shaped my outlook and experiences of life and these examples are typical of the sensitive and hardworking person that Steve was. He showed us what it is to be able to follow a dream, in this case to strive against all odds to achieve the goal of becoming a Professional Tennis Coach and to have the belief and dedication to work through the hierarchy of training and exams to reach that level. In an era when the Professional Tennis Coach was the reserve of the professional player Steve broke through that mould by sheer guts and determination and with the support of his family and friends. He never shrank from helping others achieve their goals often undertaking sponsorship by trekking in Peru or along the Great Wall of China of holding an all night tennis marathon for Children in need. He made many friends along the way and his definition of a good party was being able to sleep in a corner whilst others danced around him. You all know how proud he was to become a father and a favourite uncle. His determination, fortitude and good humour was never more tested than over the past 3 years with cancer but you would never know anything of his suffering of anguish...he would not let his illness get in the way of life. We have much to be inspired by and are better persons for knowing and loving Steve. Jenny Lampert
